Swallows manager Shigeru Takada took a "leave of absence" this week, which is essentially the NPB way of saying he was resigning which is also the NPB way of saying he was fired. Stepping in for him will be head coach Junji Ogawa, who I just discovered shares my birthday. Here's a 1990 Takara card of Ogawa when he was still an outfielder for Yakult:

Wow. Love your blog and checking out all of the cool Japanese baseball stuff! I have a question for you. My 6 year old and I will be in Japan over the summer. Do you know where we can buy Japanese baseball cards there? Thanks!
Deanna Rubin had a series of posts a while back talking about stores that she'd bought cards at in the Tokyo area. I'd recommend starting out by taking a look at those. (They are here, here, here and here.) If you aren't going to be in the Tokyo area, you might try searching on JapaneseBaseball.com to see if anyone has already asked about this and (if they haven't) post a question yourself.
Good luck and have a safe trip!
I highly recommend the Mint stores, they've been good to me, although it depends on whether you just want some cards or if you are looking for specific stuff. If you just kinda want some cards... you can just go to any sports-related place for the most part and they should have SOMETHING. Or if you go to a baseball game at all, they will sell cards there, almost certainly. They sell BBM cards at pretty much every stadium, even if it's just the generic stuff and/or the home team packs. You can drop me a line if you have more specific questions.
On my recent trip I found BBM cards at Nagoya Dome & Koshien, Toys R Us and Sports Authority and Konami cards at the local hobby shops where they sell other game cards (Pokemon, etc)
