The 2017 Nippon Series ended yesterday with
the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks winning Game Six in an exciting, come-from-behind victory. The Hawks were trailing 3-2 with one out in the bottom of the ninth - just two outs away from Yokohama forcing Game Seven after trailing in the Series 3-0 - when Seiichi Uchikawa hit a solo home run off of Baystars closer Yasuaki Yamasaki to tie the game at three. It remained tied until the bottom of the 11th when a single from Keizo Kawashima brought Akira Nakamura home with the Series winning run. It was only the third time that the Nippon Series ended on a walk off hit - the others being in 1950, 1965 and 1988 (I don't know the details of any of those yet).
As I've done the past few years I'm going to highlight the Series award winners. The winners of these awards used to have extra cards in BBM's annual Nippon Series set that was published from 1991 to 2012.
