Several times over the last few years I've been blessed by sellers on Yahoo! Japan Auctions adding bonuses to the card sets that I've bought. This happened again recently when my
2020 BBM Carp History 1950-2020 set included a small set that BBM had done in 2013 upon the retirement of Tomonori Maeda.
Maeda played for the Carp from 1990 to 2013. He was a big star in the 90's, making the Best 9 team four times (1992-94, 1998) and winning four Golden Gloves (1991-1994). He made the All Star team seven times over the course of his career (1993, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2005, 2007, 2008) and is a member of the Meikyukai because he got over 2000 hits.
BBM issued a 19 card box set for him called "Spirit Of Warrior" late in 2013. As is standard for BBM it contained an 18 card base set plus some sort of "special" card. As you would expect, the set I got with my Carp History set was only the 18 card base set, not the "special" card.
The set basically covers the highlights of Maeda's career. There are cards for his NPB debut in 1990, his first career home run in 1991, his first "go ahead" home run in 1992, his 100th career home run in 1997, his 1000th career hit in 1998, his 1000th career game in 1999, his "37th consecutive game reaching base" in 2002, his 200th career home run in 2004, his 1500th career hit in 2004, his 2000th career hit in 2007, his 2000th career game in 2008, the "first walk off hit at Mazda" in 2010 (which I assume was the first walk off hit by anyone, not just him, at Mazda Stadium) and his 350th career double in 2012. There are three cards dedicated to his "Farewell Game" on October 3, 2013 plus two cards for him changing his uniform number - first from 51 to 31 in 1992 and then from 31 to 1 in 1994. Here's a few of the cards:

It's not a bad little set but I don't think I would have gone out of my way to get on. It was nice of the seller to include it though - I pretty much never turn down free Japanese cards.
As usual you can see all the cards over at
Jambalaya.
