The Swallows eliminated the Giants yesterday and after the game,
Giants manager Tatsunori Hara resigned. Hara had managed the Giants since 2002 (with the exception of the 2004-05 when the team was run by Tsuneo Horiuchi) and has led the team to seven Central League pennants and three Nippon Series Championships. His twelve seasons at the helm of the Giants is the third longest stint in team history behind Shigeo Nagashima (15 years) and Tetsuharu Kawakami (14 years).
