Yoshihisa Hirano of the Orix Buffaloes notched his 29th save of the season yesterday. It was NPB career save number 242 for him which, when added to the eight saves he had in MLB during his three year stint with the Diamondbacks and Mariners, brings his total number of saves between the two leagues to 250 and qualifies him for the Meikyukai or Golden Players Club. He's only the fourth NPB pitcher to reach this milestone, following Kazuhiro Sasaki, Shingo Takatsu and Hitoki Iwase.
