I discovered that I missed a set in my last roundup of new releases and there've been a couple others announced so I thought I'd do a quick update:
- The set I missed was another in Epoch's ultra-high end combination active/OB player "Stars & Legends" team sets. This one will be for the Marines and will be out in mid-September (and will be the second in the series this year instead of the Carp set I mentioned in the earlier post). Boxes will contain four cards (two of which are autograph or memorabilia cards) and will retail for 200,000 yen (about $150). The base set will contain 33 cards, all of which are serially numbered. The set will also have the usual five "Stars & Legends" insert sets - "Decomori Signature (Gold)" (six cards), "Decomori Signature (Green)" (six cards), "Decomori Signature (Hologram)" (six cards), "Gem" (six cards), and "Black Gem" (six cards). All the insert cards are serially numbered too. There's also several different types of autograph cards - "Authentic", "Legendary", and "Rookie" along with ones that are written on a piece of a baseball. There are also memorabilia cards that feature pieces of game used bats.
- BBM's multi-sport set "Infinity" is back after a year's hiatus (last year's multi-sport set was called "Masterpiece" - BBM is apparently going to call the set that in anniversary years for Baseball Magazine Sha that are divisible by five). There's not a whole lot of details available about the set yet but the set will include both OB and active baseball players including Sadaharu Oh, Munetaka Murakami and Seiya Suzuki. Other sports in the set include track and field, sumo wrestling, pro wrestling, boxing, soccer, skiing, badminton, basketball, hockey, rugby, cricket, horse racing, and motor sports. There's also apparently players of go, shogi and mahjong as well as "food fight"(?!). I think there's also a card for TV Ashahi broadcaster Kensuke Ohkoshi, who played baseball at the University of Tokyo (and appeared in the 2011 BBM Legend Of Tokyo Big Six set). The set will be out in mid-October.
- Dan Skrezyna of the Korean Cardboard blog reported on Twitter last week that SCC released the 2022 KBO Rainbow set the previous week. Boxes of 10 packs containing four cards each retail for around $90. There's no base set, just a bunch of serially numbered parallels (are they really parallels if there's no base cards?) and autograph cards. Dan has uploaded the checklist to the Trading Card Database.
