Card Of The Week January 9
Former Hiroshima Toyo Carp slugger Xavier Batista is returning to Asia - he signed a contract last week with the Fubon Guardians of the CPBL. Batista had been out of baseball for three years after being released after five years in the Cubs organization before signing with the Carp as an ikusei player in 2016. He moved to the 70 man roster in 2017 and memorably homered in his first two at bats with the top team. His career with the Carp and NPB ended somewhat abruptly in August of 2019 when he failed a PED test. He was suspended for six months and released by the Carp after the suspension ended. Not sure if he played anywhere in 2020 but he spent 2021 in Mexico with Leon and Monterrey.
