MLB's playoff teams for 2021 are now set and I wanted to do quick post about which players on those teams could possibly become the next member of
the "dual champions" club - players who have won both a Nippon Series championship as well as a World Series championship. Today
rainichi_bball tweeted out
a list of the nine players on playoff teams who have NPB experience. Only two of those nine players played for Nippon Series champions - Hirokazu Sawamura of the Red Sox was on the 2012 Yomiuri Giants (the last Central League team to win a championship) and Chris Martin of the Braves was on the 2016 Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters (the last NPB team other than the Hawks to win a championship). Here are Japanese cards of each of them:

As a Red Sox fan, I'm hoping that Sawamura becomes the 12th member of this club, especially since there's three other players who've won their World Series with Boston (Daisuke Matsuzaka, Hideki Okajima and Koji Uehara). However given the way they've been playing lately I'm not holding my breath.
